Actively Committed
At First Bank and Trust we are proud of and take very seriously our commitment to our community. While financial support is given and important, we have always believed the personal presence to be equally important. We have always encouraged our staff to be active members of our community. Their involvement in various organizations and boards throughout Minden and the surrounding areas is a testament to this. We believe that the support and involvement in the community is an essential investment for its continued growth and prosperity.
Bank Initiatives
We believe that the support and involvement in the community is an essential investment for our mutual continued growth and prosperity. In that spirit, our staff regularly reaches out to the area schools to teach financial literacy skills to our children.
We donate and serve bottled water and provide peanuts at the Kearney County Fair during the livestock judging events. We cap off the fair by sponsoring and providing the manpower for the always popular Kiddie Tractor Pull. Additionally, we annually purchase tickets to Husker Harvest Days for our agricultural customers who are interested in attending this event. During harvest, we provide lunches at area grain elevators for all to eat in or take back to the field.
Individual Efforts
Bank staff are committed to supporting the community through a host of volunteer activities.
Individuals on our staff were instrumental in organizing the Minden Investment Club, an organization formed to promote the formation of new business in the Minden area. We have individuals active on boards of the Minden Opera House, Community Foundation, Kearney County Health Services Fund and various other church, community and youth organizations.
We have several staff members active in the Teammates Mentoring Program. We have staff that volunteer as coaches for Optimist sports leagues and as instructors for American Championship Karate. Other individuals volunteer their time for Rotary and Lion’s Club and their homes for rescue animals.
All of these organizations provide valuable services to all members of their communities and we are proud to be able to contribute to their success.
Financial Support
Our financial support of the area is substantial. Annually, we pay “Community Dividends” by making donations to the libraries, fire departments and youth sports programs in Minden, Axtell, Hildreth, and Wilcox. See our 2023 12 Days of Giving to these organizations by clicking here.
Since 2008, the Bank has sponsored Kearney County’s American Legion Seniors baseball team for $5,000 a year.
Significant financial donations have been made to other community projects from time to time, such as scoreboards for the Minden football field and gymnasium and a donation to the Wilcox-Hildreth Agriculture Education and FFA building project.
We believe that the support and involvement in the youth of our community is an essential investment for its continued growth and prosperity. As such we provide numerous sponsorships throughout the year for all kinds of youth and community activities and organizations.
